History: | Thought to be painted by artist Simone Martini in the 14th century on a wall in the Palazzo Pubblico of Sienna, the famous Guido Riccio da Fogliano fresco provides the inspiration for our replica wall tapestry showing the Sienese mercenary officer and commander of troops riding in on horseback during the conquest of Montemassi in 1328. A flag of the Sienese Republic is displayed on the fortress to the right while Guido Riccio moves to the nearby town to wage war. The horse is resplendent with pageantry and costume while the officer carries a field marshal’s baton. This Italian wall tapestry is sure to bring a touch of European history and beauty to your home.
