God Speed is a Belgian jacquard wall tapestry depicting the 1900 painting by Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922). His works show a great beauty and a romanticized view of life in the Middle Ages. In this scene we see the prince and his bride emerging from the church. The sudden change is seen in the faces of all the paintings subjects as the groom interacts with an approaching knight in armor. This tapestry, like Leighton's other works, displays a realist approach coupled with a feeling of romanticism.
Leighton was a British painter associated with the Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic styles specializing in medieval subjects.
This lovely imagery adds an air of romantic softness to any room it is displayed, and makes a phenomenal wedding present.
